A Qualitative Study on Group Art Activity for Children and Their Mothers Victimized by Domestic Violence

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to explore the meaning and essence on experience of group art activity for children and their mothers victimized by domestic violence. For this purpose, group art activity programs and depth interview were conducted to 8 children and 4 their mothers living in shelter for domestic violence victim located at K city, after then, this data were analysed by Collazzi¡®s phenomenological method. This study results were as follows. Children victimized by domestic violence were drawn 7 themes clusters and their mothers were drawn 3 themes clusters. Children¡¯s themes clusters were ¡®still surviving the fear of that time¡¯, ¡®difficulty of an adaptation of the new friends¡¯, ¡®want to be understanding by my mother¡¯, ¡®being expression by distorted way¡¯, ¡®coming caring heart¡¯, ¡®being self-confidence¡¯ and ¡®having dream about a happy home¡¯. Their mothers¡¯ themes clusters were ¡®marriage became the beginning of unhappy¡¯, ¡®no child support guideline¡¯, ¡®getting stability¡¯ As a result, we suggested to dissemination of child?mother program for children and their mothers victimized by domestic violence, enforcement of effective parents education program, and recruitment of specialist for children in the shelter.
